PURPOSE: To enable uniform liquid treatment over the total length of the object cloth to be treated by placing a pressing roll and a backing roll parallel to each other and adjusting the contact pressure of the rolls based on the output of a sensor for measuring the liquid content of the cloth to be treated. ;CONSTITUTION: An endless liquid-holding cloth 18 pulled out of a treating liquid and impregnated with prescribed amount of the treating liquid is passed together with an object cloth 19 to be treated through the gap (a) between a backing roll 11 and a pressing roll 14 placed parallel to each other at a position adjusted with a pneumatic diaphragm 16. The liquid content of the object cloth 19 receiving the liquid by contacting with the liquid-holding cloth 18 is measured with a sensor 20. A control circuit 22 drives a motor 17-2 of a ball screw jack 17 based on the output of the sensor 20 to adjust the position of the screw shaft 17-1 and displace the mobile arm 15 of the pressing roll 14.
