PURPOSE: To provide a method for cutting rock which improves the safety of rock-cutting work, reduces costs for cutting rock, facilitates the cutting work on the ground without moving a rock in a quarry, etc., and can cut the rock linearly in the set direction irrespective of the direction of rock tissue, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: A rock cutting apparatus A is equipped with a base 1, on which a transfer guide 2 is installed vertically movably and rotatably through an adjustment device 3. A cutter 5 is attached to the guide 2 reciprocatably by means of a transfer machine. The cutter 5 is equipped with a substrate 51, on which a punching unit 53 is installed vertically movably, and a punching rod 65 is attached to the punching unit 53.
