PURPOSE: To provide a nonstationary thermal vacuum test device that can simulate an abrupt. temperature change under a high-vacuum cryogenic condition encountered by space equipment when its head is opened for fairing because such a device has not been available and the accuracy of a mathematical model of numeric thermal analysis for estimating the temperature behavior associated with the abrupt temperature change, experienced by space equipment is low and verification of analyzed results is insufficient. ;CONSTITUTION: An unsteady thermal vacuum test device is constituted in such a way that a small block 19 is formed around a specimen 11 set in a block 18 inside of which is adjusted to a high-vacuum cryogenic condition and a mobile shutter 16 having such a function that can control the temperature of the specimen 11 is provided in the small block 19 so that an abrupt temperature can be simulated by instantaneously exposing the specimen 11 which has been exposed to a temperature condition which is difference from the outside temperature condition while the shutter 16 is closed to the outside temperature condition by opening the shutter. Therefore, the temperature behavior of space equipment exposed to an abrupt temperature change when its head is opened for fairing can be estimated with accuracy as compared with the conventional example which has been carried out by relying upon numeric analysis using an insufficient mathematical model.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
