PURPOSE: To improve the antibacterial activity of a polymer material by compounding a specific antibacterial polymer. ;CONSTITUTION: A polymer material of a thermoplastic or thermosetting resin is compounded with 0.01-50wt.% antibacterial polymer containing 99-1mol% vinylbenzylphosphonium salt of formulae I-III (wherein each of R¹-R³ is H, hydroxyl or linear or branched 1-18C alkyl or aralkyl which may be substituted with hydroxyl or alkoxyl; and X^- is an anion) in a free form and/or in the form of a monomer component.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
