PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medium moving mechanism of a recording medium housing device which lessen the burden on motors and gears when moving recording media and carries out operation stably for a long period. ;SOLUTION: This medium moving mechanism of the recording medium housing device positions the recording media T by moving a medium holding means 1 for holding the recording media T by utilizing the motor 16 in order to house the recording media T into libraries L1 and L2 and bringing the medium holding means 1 in abutment against a stopper 24. The mechanism described above has a drive side engaging part 19a which is moved by the motor 16, a driven side engaging part 14 which is disposed at the medium holding means 1 and engages the drive side engaging part 19a in the state of having shaking and an energizing means 3 which energizes the driven side engaging part 14 to the stopper side to engage the same with the drive side engaging part 19a.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
