PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective enrichment medium for Staphylococcus aureus in which Staphylococcus aureus selectively and vigorously proliferates in a short time and also protein A is produced in a large amount, and to provide a method for detecting Staphylococcus aureus with a high sensitivity and precision by using the same medium. ;SOLUTION: This selective enrichment medium for Staphylococcus aureus features containing ≥1 g/L of lithium chloride as a principal selective substance. Staphylococcus aureus is detected by inoculating a specimen in the selective enrichment medium, culturing the specimen and assaying protein A in the liquid culture medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
