PURPOSE: To provide a blanket cylinder without seams thereby allowing the endless use of the whole circumference thereof and its manufacture. ;CONSTITUTION: This is a blanket cylinder having a thermally shrinkable cylindrical blanket mounted. The cylindrical blanket is formed of a thermoplastic elastomer with the modulus of compression of 2.0-10.0kg/cm²/0.01mm. The cylindrical blanket may comprise a plurality of layers. In order to manufacture this blanket cylinder, a thermally shrinkable cylindrical blanket is first obtained, and fitted with a blanket cylinder. The cylindrical blanket is shrunken and fixed to the blanket cylinder by a heat treatment. Alternatively, the diameter of the cylindrical blanket is formed 1-20% smaller than that of the blanket cylinder, and is widened by the air pressure to fix the blanket to the blanket cylinder.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
