PURPOSE: To safely remove aromatic chlorine compounds and so on in exhaust gas, by a method wherein the exhaust gas heated by burning is maintained in a heat-maintaining chamber, is introduced into a gas cooler, and is directly cooled with spray water, and powderlike slaked lime and so on are blown into the exhaust gas, following which the slaked lime and so on are caught through a bag filter. ;CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas from an electric furnace 1 is introduced into a combustion apparatus 5 by mixing through a duct 2, is heated by being mixed with burner-burnt gas and is maintained under a high-temperature condition thereof in a heat-maintaining chamber 7. The exhaust gas discharged from the heat-maintaining chamber 7 is introduced into a gas cooler 8 and is directly cooled with water particles splayed from a splay nozzle 9. Furthermore, fine particles such as slaked lime are blown into the exhaust gas by an adsorbent- feeding apparatus 10 and are allowed to absorb aromatic chlorine compounds remaining in the exhaust gas and to catch together with dust in the exhaust gas through a bag filter 11. In addition, heat-exchangers each are provided on an exhaust gas duct from the heat- maintaining chamber 7 and on another exhaust gas duct ranging from the electric furnace 1 or a scrap-preheating apparatus therefor to the combustion apparatus 5 by mixing or the combustion apparatus 5.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
