DIALOG UNDERSTANDING METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM IN WHICH DIALOG UNDERSTANDING PROGRAM IS STORED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dialog understanding method capable of efficiently understanding a dialog by suppressing increase of kinds of understanding states and understanding rules when meanings of the dialog in which fragmentary speeches are sometimes included are exactly understood, and a storage medium in which a dialog understanding program is stored.;SOLUTION: In this method, the speech is inputted, the inputted speech is added to time series of inputted speeches by imparting speaker identification information and time order information to it, dialog understanding rules to satisfy dialog understanding prerequisites are extracted to time series of speeches and time series of understanding states having the speaker identification information and the time order information from a set of dialog understanding rules consisting of the dialog understanding prerequisites and dialog understanding results, when no dialog understanding rule is extracted, an understanding state at the previous time is copied and outputted by adding it to the time series of understanding states, when the dialog understanding rules are extracted, priority is calculated for each of the extracted dialog understanding rules, the dialog understanding result of the dialog understanding rule with the highest priority among the dialog understanding rules the priority of which are calculated is defined as a new understanding state and outputted by adding it to the time series of understanding states.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
