PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the deviation angle between the angle direction of the diagonally polished end face of a ferrule and the wave front direction of the optical fiber in the ferrule or the lining up direction of plural pieces of the optical fibers in the ferrule holes. ;SOLUTION: The polarization maintaining optical fibers 1 are inserted into the ferrule holding parts 3b of a receptacle 3 provided with a glass plate contact part 3a and the ferrule holding parts 3b at a prescribed angle β with the perpendicular axis of the contact part 3a. The ferrule 2 having the diagonally polished end face of a prescribed angle α is mounted. The diagonally polished end face is pressed to the one surface of the glass plate 4. The angle direction X is measured by the interference fringes k generated by making perpendicularly the light (t) of a specified wavelength incident on the glass plate 4 from the other surface and the wave front direction X' of the polarization maintaining optical fiber 1 is measured.
