PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface treating agent for aramid fiber excellent in adhesiveness to a matrix resin by including a specific imidazolesilane-based compound or this compound and a water-soluble epoxy resin oligomer or a phosphorus compound as essential components. ;SOLUTION: This surface treating agent for aramid fiber is prepared by including imidazolesilane-based compounds represented by formulas I to III [R¹ is H, vinyl or a 1-5C alkyl; R² is H or a 1-20C alkyl; R³ and R⁴ are each a 1-30C alkyl; (n) is an integer of 1-3] and having imidazole group and an alkoxysilyl group or the above imidazolesilane-based compound and a water-soluble epoxy resin oligomer or a phosphorus compound such as triphenylphosphine in the same molecule as essential components. This surface-treated aramid fiber is obtained by applying the above essential components in an amount of 0.01-10 wt.% as a solid content to aramid fiber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
