PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interposing holding member for vertical roofing exterior, contributing to the enhancement of flashing functions as a primary gutter by holding a vertical roofing material without causing local deformation, and enhancing the holding strength of the fitting parts of the roofing material and the holding member, and to provide a vertical roofing structure. SOLUTION: An interposing holding member for vertical roofing is long-sized, has an approximately gutter-shaped cross section, and has interposing holding parts 1d at the upper edges of its right and left sides, the interposing holding parts 1d being so formed that the outside surfaces of the upper edges is fittable over the locking part 5e of a piece-shaped holding member 5 and that the inside surfaces of the upper edges is fittable over the side edge fitting part 7b of a vertical roofing material 7. In a vertical roofing structure using the interposing holding member 1d, the interposing holding member 1 is interposed between a gutter member 4 and the vertical roofing material 7 in such a manner that the outer surfaces of the upper edges of the interposing holding parts 1d are fitted over the locking part 5e of the piece-shaped holding member 5 and that the inside surfaces of the upper edges are fitted over the side edge fitting part 7b of the vertical roofing material 7.
