PURPOSE: To judge whether optical fiber end sections of a multi-core covered optical fiber side and optical fiber hold sections on a ferrule side maintain proper positional relation and combination state or not. ;CONSTITUTION: The information on optical fiber end sections and optical fiber hold sections is collected at least at two occasions of before, during and after the end sections of optical fibers 2₁-2₄ are inserted into optical fiber hole sections (recessed grooves 17₁-17₄) of a ferrule 11, and whether the relation between the optical end sections and the optical fiber hold sections is correct or not is judged based on the information obtained at least at two occasions. Since whether the relative positional relation and combination state between the optical fiber end sections and optical fiber hold sections are correct or not is judged based on the information obtained at two or more occasions, the judgment work can be efficiently performed with high precision.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
