PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique for controlling plant disease damage which uses a biological technique not depending on agrochemicals. SOLUTION: By transplanting slices of rice plant leaves to a culture medium after being washed by the modified Harley-waid method (Harley and Waid, 1955), fungi on the leaves are obtained. From the resultant fungi on the leaves, plural fungal strains exhibiting disease spot formation inhibitory effect on rice plant blast are obtained. Some of the fungal strains further exhibit inhibitory effect on the growth of the pathogenic fungus of tomato fusarium wilt, cucumber fusarium wilt or spinach damping-off.
