PURPOSE: To obtain an A/D converter which can make automatic dynamic range adjustment for giving bit resolution by providing a peak tracker circuit, a level shifter, and an A/D converter and supplying digital signals to a microprocessor. ;CONSTITUTION: An ADC 201 is composed of an A/D converter having a dynamic input range and a reference signal input Vr and converted analog input signals A are processed as the function of the signal Vr. Therefore, the processed signals have the dynamic range corresponding to the dynamic input range of the ADC 201 and can be converted with full-scale bit-resolution. A peak tracker circuit 300 samples the signals A, discriminates the first amplitude of the waveforms of the sample signals A, and supplies the discriminated amplitude peak signals to the ADC 201 as the signal Vr. The part of analog signals As following the peak is processed as the function of the signal Vr.
