PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost by providing a sensor comprising at least two optical sensors and two corresponding light emitters supplying a plurality of light beams of same color between a print line and a ribbon feed spool thereby eliminating waste of die donor. ;SOLUTION: An optical sensor 30a is disposed directly on the path of a web 10 while being spaced apart by the frame length in front of a print line 60 in the advancing direction of a die donor web 10. Since the optical sensor 30a is located directly in the path of a web 10 preceding the print line 60 by the frame length, the front edge of the frame is located just at the position of the print line 60 because the front edge of the continuous frame is located between the sensors 30a. Since yellow die of a yellow frame must be transferred thermally onto a die receiving medium, the front edge of a magenta frame is simply required to be positioned continuously following to th yellow frame.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
