PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and accurately determine the length of a telomere using a small amount of DNA so as to easily assess the extent of skin aging.;SOLUTION: The subject method comprises determining the length of a telomere by electrophoretic separation of a telomere DNA obtained from cells and detecting the telomere DNA using a PNA skeleton telomere recognition probe; wherein the probe to be used is such as to have a PNA skeleton, have a base sequence of N-terminal-(CCCTAA)n-C-terminal or N-terminal-(TTAGGG)n- C-terminal (n is 3-5) and be labeled with a radioisotope, fluorescent compound, chemiluminescent compound or enzyme.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
