PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed wood which can be easily worked by bending or cutting in order to adapt itself to the curved faces of wood-worked furniture, household fittings and the like, and provide further a method for manufacturing the compressed wood and a method for working the compressed wood. ;SOLUTION: A sawn log is thermally moistened to be plasticized and the obtained plasticized wood is compressed in the longitudinal direction and is restored and stretched to an appropriate length in a natural state to obtain a compressed wood. The compressed wood is cut to the specified width and length to be joint-connected in the longitudinal direction and thus is woked as a compressed wood to meet use applications. Alternatively, the compressed wood is sliced to a specified width to obtain a veneer, which is connected by a finger joint into a specified veneer or a rolled veneer, or the veneer is lined with a reinforcing sheet to obtain a reinforced veneer or a reinforced rolled veneer which is available for various applications.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
