PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanium oxide which can display photocatalytic activity in the presence of not only ultraviolet ray but also visible ray and further to effectively utilize the titanium oxide to remove toxic substances. ;SOLUTION: The obtained titanium oxide is enabled to reveal photocatalytic activity responding to visible ray by adjusting spin number per titanium oxide Ig at a peak of Ti3+ obtained by measuring electron spin resonance within a range between 3×1017 and 1.5×1018 and further a toxic substance remover is constituted by having the titanium oxide as an effective component.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
