PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic wire without fluctuation of the physical properties of the build-up weld parts using the wire for welding, even though the raw material metal in a superhard metal difficult to work and has lens flexibility and resiliency, and to provide a wire capable of continuous automatic welding. ;SOLUTION: This metallic wire is composed of a superhard metal difficult to work and hardly having flexibility and resiliency, by forming its structure the porous one, however the flexibility and resiliency of the wire are imparted. In the method for producing the metallic wire, at least the fine powder of the superhard metal a polymer binder with water or an organic solvent are kneaded to form slurry, and extruded into a wire rod, and sintered the wire rod to increase its strength. In step, the metallic wire rod is porously sintered, and flexibility and resiliency are imparted to the metallic wire after the sintering.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
