PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visualizing method and device, applicable to both cases where an object is a transparent body or a non-transparent body, and capable of measuring both modes of an SV wave (transvere wave) and an SH wave (transvere wave) from among elastic wave modes, and measuring also a longitudinal wave, a surface wave and a creeping wave. ;SOLUTION: This visualization of in-solid elastic wave propagation is executed by a device, comprising an elastic wave generator 8 for generating an elastic wave in a solid 9 in response to an electric signal, an electrical signal transmitter 7 for transmitting the electrical signal to the elastic wave generator, a sensor 1 for measuring the elastic wave propagating in the solid, a sensor scanner 3 for controlling the scanning position of the sensor, a measured wave recorder 2 for receiving and recording a measured wave from the sensor, a synchronous circuit 10 for sending the measured wave from the sensor to the measured wave recorder synchronously with timing signals from the sensor scanner and the electric signal transmitter, and an elastic wave stress distribution picture forming machine 4 for making an image of a measured wave stress distribution signal from the measured wave recorder 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
