SOLUTION: The surface of a hydrogen storage alloy particle is coated with a composite body containing a first element of at least one kind selected from the group consisting of nickel and cobalt and a second element of at least one kind selected from the group consisting of yttrium, ytterbium, lanthanum, erbium, bismuth, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium and calcium.
