PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system capable of updating firmware on an extension board while making a system main body continuously operate. ;SOLUTION: An update application 124 operating under an operating system 121 writes update data on an extension board 20 through a physical driver 123 and subsequently, sets a reset flag 211. Meanwhile, the microcomputer 23 of the extension board 20 uses the update data, rewrites a microprogram in a microprogram storing part 231 and executes the restart of the board 20 in accordance with the set of the flag 211. The application 124 also reexecutes initialization processing of the driver 123 by the control of a system main body by setting the enable flag 212 of the board 20 through the driver 123 after the restart of the board 20.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
