PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve document information based on a positional relation on a map, to attain linkage with map information by using an existent database, to obtain a desired range from a plurality of objects and to fetch document information corresponding to it.;SOLUTION: Information for specifying a graphic registered on a map and the coordinate information of a rectangular circumscribed to the graphic on the map related to the document are stored in a part of a journal information table 109 to refer to the journal information from both of a part (map DB 106) dealing with the map and a part (document DB 110) dealing with the document. A closed area preparing part 103 selects an object satisfying a retrieving condition given from a map retrieving screen control part 102 from the table 109, and obtains the range of the object from construction range information 107 through map common information 108 within the map DB 106 concerning the object.
