PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a restoration time prediction method, a restoration time prediction device and a hard disk drive capable of effectively utilizing power restoration time required for restoration from a standby state and achieving the acceleration of the entire system provided with the hard disk drive. SOLUTION: When a host originates a request for releasing the standby state to this hard disk drive in a standby state, the power restoration time required for the hard disk drive to be restored from the standby state so as to become usable is predicted (S2). Then, the predicted power restoration time is reported to the host (S3). Since a host system recognizes the time required for power restoration, a schedule is made so as to execute a task to be ended within the time interval before the hard disk drive is started and the schedule of the task of the entire system inside the host system is optimized. Thus, the acceleration of the entire system provided with the hard disk drive is achieved.
