MULTIPLE ADDRESS CELL CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INPUT OUTPUT BUFFER TYPE ATM SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a multiplicity of ATM channels contained in a buffer and to increase number of MP(multi-point) connections to a same channel by increasing number of MP connections. ;SOLUTION: When a cell input section 11 receives a cell with sets of control information A, B added thereto from a core switch in an ATM switch, in the case that a type discrimination section 12 discriminates the cell to be a P-MP (point to multi-point) cell on the basis of the control information A, the section 12 informs a table access discrimination section 14 of the control information B, the table access discrimination section 14 indexes control information C including a channel number and path information by using the control information B for a key, a cell copy section 13 gives the retrieved control information C to the cell and outputs the resulting cell to a cell buffer section 16 to make cell copy. In the case of copying two or more cells, a chain configuration is adopted where the control information B is used for a first address to retrieve the P-MP table 15 and the control information C read just before is used for 2nd and succeeding addresses.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
