PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine whether a related part already requires maintenance or whether a striking unit can be further used by providing a measure and means for especially allowing an operator to confirm the operation time and status of use of a hydraulic hammer.;SOLUTION: In a method for detecting the operation time and status of use of a hydraulic striking unit equipped with the striking piston guided within a casing 3a to alternately perform a work stroke and a return stroke in a striking direction under the action of a control device, especially a hydraulic hammer, signals of which the number is proportional to the number of times of strokes performed in one operation direction during individual operation sections generated in a temporally successive manner by the striking piston of the striking unit are generated and continuously added up to be stored as the total number and the total number of present signals is made possible to recognize at least occasionally each time in a display form suggesting the status of use.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
