PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame synchronization method that can be realized through a software processing without the need for increasing redundancy, for a variable parameter and for any additional circuit. ;SOLUTION: The frame synchronization method consists of synchronization acquisition processing 11, a transition processing 12 and a synchronization hold processing 13. In the synchronization acquisition processing 11, coincidence of a synchronization pattern by each bit is confirmed for a predetermined frame length. In the transition processing 12, the coincidence of a synchronization pattern at an object position of a frame interval and a frame error of error correction information are confirmed for a predetermined frame number, and in the synchronization hold processing 13, forward protection is conducted by combining the coincidence of the synchronization pattern at the object position of the frame interval and the frame error of correction information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
