PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-based sintered alloy friction-resistant piston ring having a cooling cavity excellent in high-temperature wear resistance and heat conductivity and small in attackability. ;SOLUTION: This piston ring has a ring-like cooling cavity 7 inside, and consists of an iron-based sintered alloy having the structure in which a Fe-based alloy phase having the composition consisting of, by weight, 11-40% Cu, 0.5-10% Ni, and 0.001-3% C, and 0.1-15% Mo and/or 0.1-10% Cr as necessary, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and consisting mainly of Fe is coupled with a Cu-based alloy phase consisting mainly of Cu.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
