PURPOSE: To perform T type fillet submerged arc welding of thick steel plates by one pass on both sides by optimizing chemical composition and powder characteristics of flux, chemical composition of base metal, chemical composition of a wire and welding conditions. ;CONSTITUTION: Calcined flux and the wire are used, a push angle of 3-15° and a drag angle of 3-20° are provided on a proceeding electrode and a succeeding electrode, respectively under conditions that a current ratio of the succeeding electrode (T electrode) 6 to the preceding electrode (L electrode) 4 is regulated to 0.65-1.00 and welding is performed. In the calcined flux, the total amount of each component of SiO2, MgO and CaO is 45-65wt.% and the total amount of each component of TiO2, Al2O3 and CaF2 is 5-20wt.%. In the wire, the wire C content (wt.%), the C content (wt.%) of a web steel plate and the C content (wt.%) of a flange steel plate are denoted as C1, C2(≤0.18wt.%) and C3(≤0.18wt.%), respectively and the wire having the diameter 4.8-6.4mmϕ and containing the wire C content to satisfy 0.50C1+0.28C2+0.22C3≤0.120 and 1.20-2.50wt.% Mn is made.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
