PHASE-CONTRAST PLATE PRODUCING MEMBER, PRODUCTION OF PHASE-CONTRAST PLATE, OPTICAL MEMBER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phase-contrast plate producing member less liable to cause defects in quality such as fish eyes, traces of foaming and glue residue and to obtain the phase- contrast plate having a good quality by a system for shrinking a heat shrinkable film in a good yield. ;SOLUTION: An adhesive layer having 15-35 μm thickness is disposed on a heat shrinkable film to obtain the objective phase-contrast plate producing member which is bonded to a thermoplastic film and peeled after the treatment of the thermoplastic film under the action of heat shrinking power. The producing member is bonded to one face or both faces of the thermoplastic film by way of the adhesive layer, the thermoplastic film is stretched or shrunk in at least one of longitudinal and horizontal directions under the action of the shrinking power of the producing member by heating and the producing member is peeled to produce the objective phase-contrast plate. The occurrence of defects in quality is prevented while using the heat shrinkable film whose surface state is comparable to that of the conventional film, the phase-contrast plate which highly controls phase contrast is efficiently obtained and the objective liquid crystal display device capable of highly compensating phase contrast due to the birefringence of a liquid crystal cell and excellent in an angle of visibility and contrast is obtained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
