METHOD FOR MEASURING LONGITUDE OF GEOSTATIONARY SATELLITE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the longitude of a geostationary satellite continuously and instantaneously through a simple arrangement of apparatus. ;SOLUTION: When the longitude of a geostationary satellite is measured using a radio wave interferometer, a base line connecting first and second receiving points is aligned with a specified direction and the phase difference between the first and second receiving points is converted into the difference of longitude using a conversion coefficient thus displaying the current longitude value of a satellite continuously and instantaneously. The arrangement of apparatus is simplified by locating the first and second receiving points on the same horizontal plane.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
