PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and properly detect a premature start (unfair start) on the basis of the change of a position of player's hands at a crouching start in an athletic sports such as a short-distance race. ;SOLUTION: This premature start detector comprises a position detecting means A for detecting the change of a position of player's hands at a crouching start as a motion signal, and storing a receiving time t2 of the motion signal, a signal gun detecting means B for converting the sound of the signal gun 20 into a signal gun signal, and storing a receiving time t1 of the signal gun signal, and a premature start judging means C reading out the receiving time t1 of the signal gun signal from the signal gun detecting means B, reading the receiving time t2 of the motion signal from the position detecting means A, judging the unfair start when the difference between the receiving time t1 of the signal gun signal and the receiving time t2 of the motion signal is below a predetermined allowable value, and outputting the warning.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
