PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon black excellent in conferring decrementation and gripping property to a rubber compounded the carbon black and capable of conferring high hysteresis loss property to the rubber. ;SOLUTION: This carbon black has 85-200 m2/g CTAB specific surface area, 85-135 ml/100 g DBT oil absorption, ≤100 N2SA/IA ratio of nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) to iodine adsorption specific surface area (IA) and ≤2.20 P-value indicating stokes disposition characteristic of the aggregate and calculated from formula (1) shown bellow. The rubber composition having high hysteresis loss property is obtained by compounding the carbon black. Formula (1): P=(D10L-DST)/(DST-D10S) wherein DST (nm) is the stokes equivalent diameter corresponding to the maximum weight fraction of the stokes diameter weight distribution curve of carbon black aggregate, D10L (nm) is the larger stokes equivalent diameter of two points corresponding to the 10% fraction of the maximum weight fraction and D10S is the smaller stokes equivalent diameter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
