PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gene capable of preparing a plant resistant to sweet potato latent virus by transducing the gene to a plant, due to containing a base sequence coding for a coat protein of a sweet potato latent virus composed of a specific amino acid sequence. ;SOLUTION: This gene comprises a base sequence coding for a coat protein of a sweet potato latent virus composed of an amino acid sequence of formula I or a base sequence complementary with the base sequence.
