PURPOSE: To make it possible to meaure properties of a material accompanying gelation and solation by arranging sensors in the material, measuring temperature change and differentiating the temperature change or the temperature- difference change with time. ;CONSTITUTION: Gelated material 4 (or solated material 4) in a container is cooled (or heated) with cooling water 2 (or heating water 2) contained in a constant-temperature oven 1. Then, the temperature of the heating body housed in a sensor 5 or the surface temperature of the sensor 5 is measured in time. At the same time, the temperature of the gelated material (or solated material 4) is measured with a sensor 6 in time. Then, the temperature of the heating body housed in the sensor 5 or the surface temperature of the sensor 5 or the temperature difference between the temperature and the temperature of the gelated material 4 (or solated material 4), which is measured with the sensor 6, are obtained. The difference is differentiated with time, and the characteristics of the material caused by the gelation and the solation such as the gelation time and the solation time are measured.
