PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain an ecological flame retardance-imparting composite composition which imparts a high flame retardance when added at a small amount and generates no harmful substance at production or combustion, to provide its preparation process, to obtain a flame-retardant polymer composite material with which the flame retardance- imparting composite composition is compounded and a molded product of the flame-retardant polymer material.;SOLUTION: A sol composition wherein a compound containing a metal element and/or Si is dispersed and/or dissolved in a solvent is mixed with carrier material particles, and the mixed sol composition is dried to yield a gel composition to obtain the flame retardance- imparting composite composition wherein the gel composition is compounded with the carrier material particles. A flame retardance-imparting composite particle 10 contains a silicon component and/or a metal component and oxygen and has a structure wherein a gel composition 2 which becomes a glass or a ceramic when heated to generate a glassy ceramic is compounded with carrier material particles 1. This flame retardance-imparting composite composition is compounded (added) with a polymer material through either blending or coating to yield the flame-retardant polymer composite material and the molded product of the flame- retardant polymer material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
