PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamed carrier for microorganism immobilizing treatment, which promotes denitrification and purification for waste water such as organic waste water and eutrophicated water, moreover, is safe in that there is no fear of the occurrence of secondary pollution and is excellent in durability, and a method for treating the waste water such as organic waste water and eutrophicated water using the foamed carrier. SOLUTION: This foamed carrier for immobilizing microorganisms is used in order to treat the waste water such as the organic waste water and the eutrophicated water with the microorganisms and is formed by coating the surface of a water resistant foamy carrier with a hydrophilicity improver of high molecular weight having positive electric charge and/or a microorganism affinity improver.
