PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a spring return of a valve without requiring a motor of large torque and a large number of gears even when the motor runs into trouble in any position.;SOLUTION: This motor type servo actuator is provided with an output shaft 32 rotated by a sector gear 30 driven by a worm 46. The worm 46 is provided with a coaxially arranged torsion spring 50 wound as it rotates. The worm 46 is driven by the motor 58 and a gear train. When the motor 58 runs into trouble while the sector gear 30 rotates in the given direction from an initial position, the wound torsion spring 50 has accumulative energy sufficient for returning the sector gear 30 to the initial position by rotating the worm 46.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
