PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which enables accurate measurement of the degree of width-wise serpentine as to a magnetic tape and an apparatus therefor and a production method of a magnetic record medium and an apparatus therefor.;SOLUTION: On the side of one width-wise end rim 9a of a magnetic tape 9, sensors 12, 14 and 13 are arranged sequentially at an equal interval from the upstream side in the direction of running the magnetic tape 9. The assembly thus obtained is installed in line to determine as a correct degree of serpentine a difference of a detection value by the sensor 14 from the mean of detection values of the sensors 12 and 13 which detect the position of the end rim of the magnetic tape 9 while it is running.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
