CABLE IN PARTICULAR SUBMARINE CABLE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method of manufacturing a cable, especially a submarine cable which has a structure adapted to requirements on the spot.;SOLUTION: A submarine cable has a sheathing that surrounds the cable core and protects it from a mechanical load. The sheathing is designed to withstand the mechanical stress received when the cable is laid at the maximum depth. The sheathing is oversized at a shallower region, and it is the case especially when the cable is buried underground. In this invention, an appropriate number of sheathing wires used for forming the sheathing are replaced by filling strands made of plastic as the need arises. The submarine cable is sheathed appropriately for each load at different depths by arranging the filling strands at each region.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
