CULTURE OF WHITE-ROT FUNGUS, TREATMENT OF HARDLY DEGRADABLE MATERIAL AND TREATING TREATING AGENT THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily obtain a white-rot fungus having a degrading ability of a hardly degradable material such as a biphenyl polychloride at a low cost by culturing the white-rot fungi in a medium comprising a waste paper as a culture substrate. ;SOLUTION: White-rot fungi such as Phanerochaete sordida YK-624 are cultured in a medium comprising a waste paper such as corrugated cardboard as a culture substrate (having preferably 50-85 wt.%, more preferably 60-65 wt.% water content, and preferably at pH 3-7, more preferably at pH 4-5), e.g. at 20-30°C for 7-21 days to provide the objective white-rot fungi. A hardly degradable material such as dioxins is preferably treated by bringing a mixture of the white-rot fungi having a hardly degradable material-degrading ability with the waste paper into contact with the hardly degradable material. Further preferably, the material is treated by mixing the waste paper containing the white-rot fungi with the soil contaminated with the material.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
