PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide copper phthalocyanine crude and smicrude decreased in the content of impurities, especially organic impurities, in comparison with conventional ones. ;SOLUTION: In a method for producing a copper phthalocyanine crude by cleaning unpurified copper phthalocyanine, the cleaning is done with an inorganic base solution, such as an alkali metal hydroxide solution. Preferably, cleaning with an inorganic acid solution or with an alcohol is conducted, in addition to the cleaning with an inorganic base solution. When water vapor is introduced into the inorganic base solution in cleaning the unpurified copper phthlocyanine therewith, the content of impurities, especially organic impurities, can be decreased. Thus obtained copper phthalocyanine crude is ground to give a copper phthalocyanine semicrude having a decreased content of impurities.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
