PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for holding a rodlike member 6 for grafting in order to simply take out the rodlike member 6 from a housing apparatus thrusting each rodlike member 6 for grafting into a housing member 10 and thrust the rodlike member 6 into a stock. SOLUTION: This apparatus for holding the rodlike member 6 comprises a shaft cylinder 1, a chuck 7 for holding the rodlike member 6, a spring 9 for urging the chuck rearward and a guide member 4 located at the front of the chuck 7 and having a tapered part 4B narrowing toward the rear in the longitudinal direction. The apparatus is capable of advancing the chuck 7, extending a holding member 7B and thereby leading the rodlike member 6 to the tapered part 4B of the guide member 4 and inserting the rodlike member 6 from the front into the interior of the chuck 7. When the advance of the chuck 7 is released, the chuck 7 is urged to the rear with the spring 9 to close the holding part 7B. Thereby, the rodlike member 6 is surely held with the holding member 7B.
