PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an information/data processing apparatus and information/ data reproducing method which does not cause any delay in reproduction. ;SOLUTION: When an input operation for specifying a starting address of a desired reproduction stream is detected, a read stream of a predetermined amount from this starting address is pre-read from a video server section VDs to a first pre-reading storage section PRm1 in advance as an advance preparation before receiving an instruction for starting a reproduction operation. When receiving an instruction for starting the reproduction stream, the read stream read from the first pre-reading storage section PRm1 is sent as the reproduction stream. On the other hand, before completing a readout operation of the read stream, the video server section VDs is controlled to complete preparation for reading out the following stream. Immediately when the readout of the read stream is completed, a switching section SWa is switched to read out the following stream from the video server section VDs to be sent as the reproduction stream.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
