MULTI-FIBER TYPE FERRULE, MULTI-FIBER TYPE CONNECTOR AND METHOD FOR PRELIMINARILY ASSEMBLING THOSE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preliminarily assembling multi-fiber type connector having a connector housing and a multi-fiber type ferrule without having a window whose cross section is substantially rectangular. ;SOLUTION: The multi-fiber type ferrule 14 without the window is at least partially housed within an internal cavity formed by the connector housing 12, and thereby, the multi-fiber type connector 10 in which an optical fiber is not provided is formed. Thus, the multi-fiber type connector is preliminarily assembled before plural number of optical fibers are inserted into the optical fibers formed by the multi-fiber type ferrule without the window. Also, the method for preliminarily assembling the multi-fiber type connector is provided. Also, a ferrule selectively convertible from the configuration without the window to a configuration with the window is provided. The ferrule in this embodiment is provided with not only at least one bore 22 for the optical fiber but also a hole extending penetrating the side surface of the ferrule main body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
