PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and economically obtain the subject compound useful as an industrial raw material and having good quality in a state capable of easily being industrialized by reacting a specific amino group-containing compound with a diaryl carbonate and thermally decomposing the resultant compound. ;SOLUTION: An amino group-containing compound of formula I [R1 is a monovalent to tetravalent organic group; R2 is a divalent organic group; and X1 and X2 are each R4 (R4 is a monovalent organic group), NH2 or the like] is reacted with a diaryl carbonate preferably at 30-160°C to thereby obtain an aryl carbamate group-containing compound of formula II [X3 and X4 are each R4, NH-CO-OR6 (R6 is an aryl) or the like] and the aryl carbamate group- containing compound is thermally decomposed preferably at 100-300°C to thereby obtain the objective compound of formula III (X5 and X6 are each R4, NCO or the like).
