METHOD OF EXAMINING METAL TOUCH FOR UNDERGROUND BURIED PIPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely specify a metal touch position of a buried pipe by simple work with a reduced cost.;SOLUTION: Holes having about 8-10 mm of diameter are drilled in plural portions around a contact area having the possibility of metal touch between the buried pipe 1 and other structure. A pin terminal 6 comprising a conductor attached to a guide 13 attached to a tip of a casing 12 and formed taperedly toward its tip, and having an electrode 14 built in with a heater is inserted into the each drilled hole. A tip of the electrode 14 in the pin terminal 6 is brought into contact with the buried pipe 1 to be heated, and a coated layer of the buried pipe 1 is fused thereby to bring the tip of the electrode 14 into contact with a bare surface of the buried pipe 1. Under this condition, a voltage drop between the adjacent pin terminals 6 is measured to specify the metal touch position, while a fixed current is made to flow in the buried pipe 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
