PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve slag infiltration resistance and to particularly improve the corrosion resistance of an alumina-chromia brick to slag in a chramia- containing brick used for a molten metal vessel such as a hot metal vessel, a molten steel vessel, a degassing vessel or the like. ;SOLUTION: Metal Si is added into the chromia-containing brick. The quantity to be added is suitably 0.2-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. refractory material containing chromia. Chromium oxide and if necessary, an alumina-chromia solid solution are added as the chromia raw material in the alumina-chramia brick.
