PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a suppressant capable of effectively suppressing calcium oxalate-scaling in a wide pH range in a papermaking process and to provide a method for suppressing the scaling. ;SOLUTION: This suppressant against calcium oxalate-scaling in a papermaking process includes at least one of poly-α-hydroxyacrylic acid and its alkali metal salt, ammonium salt and amine salt as effective components. The restraining method for calcium oxalate-scaling comprises adding the suppressant against calcium oxalate-scaling into one or more of a bleaching column, pulp slurry fed into the bleaching column, pulp washing water added to the bleaching column and recycling white water and pulp slurry in papermaking.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
